Fun at The Climbing Unit!

During half term I went to The Climbing Unit in Derby, with Alex Norton and Kai Paling.  I warmed up on the kids’ circuit then got down to crushing some of the greens.  We also had a lot of fun on the HUGE Alpkit beanbags!  Go down and see for yourselves how big they are!

This was probably one of my favourite problems of the day, with a little bit of everything in it…

We all went out for tea afterwards and had the biggest ice-cream in the world!

Competition time!

This has been an exciting week of competitions.  First, Shauna Coxsey won gold at the IFSC Bouldering World Cup in Grindlewald, then did it again yesterday at Innsbruck!  I think she is amazing and I’m very inspired by her.

Well done Shauna, and to all the GB climbers who took part.

To add to that, on Friday I took part in the Big Rock Youth Climbing Competition in Milton Keynes.  I went as part of a team called Me, Him and Her along with Alex Norton and Kai Paling.  I flashed everything except the last route, falling off at the same crimp as Kai.  Alex flashed everything, and his final route was amazing to watch.

I won Girls E, Alex won Boys B and Kai came second in Boys E.  That meant we placed joint first for the team award, alongside Big Rock Academy (and they had 13 people!)

My dad has made a short video of our highlights.  Why don’t you have a sneaky peak?!

Cracking V5!

Recently Tom Randall set 20, kid-sized boulder problems at the Climbing Station in Loughborough.

It was great to do something that was not set by Mr Tickle (no big reaches here).  I could think about technique rather than wondering how many dynos I was going to have to do to make the moves.

This video is the last problem in the circuit, which Tom graded as a tough V5.

I’m looking forward to the next set, Tom!

Three cheers for Orrin Coley!

Me and Orrin at The Tower

Orrin Coley works and climbs at The Tower, Leicester.

He’s just come back from Baku in Azerbaijan where he was competing in his first IFSC World Cup as part of the GB Team.

He did really well and I am very proud of him!

He’s going out to Innsbruck next week to compete in another round.  I’ve been reading his blog and thought you might like it too.

I am also very pleased for Shauna and Mina, who have done brilliantly.

Good luck to everyone on the GB Team for the next rounds!

Stanage Plantation – April 2014

This was my first climbing trip to Stanage and was amazing!  I was able to climb with Alex Norton, Alice Killington, Ed O’Grady and others from the Climbing Station.

I topped a V4 on the Business Bolder, as well as flashing some V1s and 2s.  My favourite was Lone Slab, which features a lot on my video!  I hope to get out a few more times before Ratho, if the weather lets us.

Awesome Day at Awesome Walls

Leading up the Prow

During the Easter holidays I went to Awesome Walls, Sheffield, with The Tower Youth Climbing Club (TYCC).  This was the second time I had been, and I wanted to do some high climbing, to get ready for the high walls at Ratho.

Approaching the top of the competition wall

I led some routes on the prow and then led the 6b+ up the competition wall, all the way to the top!  It’s definitely a long way down!

BMC Youth Climbing Series 2014

The MY Series set me up well to go into the rounds of the BMC YCS.

I won the first two rounds, which were at Wolf Mountain and The Tower.

Chalking up on a route at Creation

The final round at Creation was exciting!

Three of us topped everything, so had to climb off against each other.  Another girl and I matched each other again, so tied for first.

I was really proud to win my category and am looking forward to the finals at Ratho now!
